A shelf edge that answers questions out loud
A commissioned brief for a shop that wanted the shelf to answer the question people ask the staff most often.

The client wanted a talking shelf. What they needed was an answer to one question, asked forty times a day: is this the one with no sugar in it.
So it does exactly that. A strip along the shelf edge, a microphone, and a very small vocabulary. It does not chat. It answers a handful of product questions and says it does not know for anything else.
Narrowing the scope was the design work. The first version tried to be a shop assistant and was uniformly disliked in testing, because it was slow and confidently wrong. The second version knew nine things and was trusted.
It is still running in one branch.
