Common Entrance

For children sitting entrance exams for secondary school, whether the National Common Entrance for the federal unity colleges or the individual exams that the Lagos private secondaries set.

I take a small number of these pupils and I start them in Primary 4 or early Primary 5. I will not take a child in the September of Primary 6 and promise anything, because that is not fair on the child.

The work covers quantitative and verbal reasoning, maths beyond the primary syllabus, and comprehension that is harder than anything they meet in class. Reading widely matters more than any technique here, which is why these pupils get a reading list.

A frank word: entrance preparation suits some children and makes others miserable. If after a term I think your child is being made unhappy by it, I will tell you.
