Getting confidence back

Not a subject, but it is why a good number of children are sent to me, so it should be on the list.

A child who has decided they are the dull one in the class will protect that belief. They will not try, because not trying is safer than trying and failing. Nothing gets taught until that changes.

What changes it is being right, out loud, repeatedly, at something slightly too hard. That is most of what the early lessons are for. The academic work goes slowly at first and then very quickly.

This takes a term, sometimes two. It is not a thing I can do in six sessions.
